RELATE
Description
RELATE reports the relationship of each household member to the ATUS respondent.
In addition to all persons who live in the household, the household roster includes any of the respondent's own children under the age of 18 who live outside the household
"Own child" refers to the respondent's biological child, adopted child, or step child.
RELATE was collected at the time of the ATUS interview. Household relationships were also collected at the time of the final CPS interview, 2-5 months before the ATUS interview. See RELATE_CPS8. Users should note that RELATE_CPS8 gives the relationship of each household member to the CPS respondent. The CPS respondent may or may not be the same as the ATUS respondent.
