AWBWT is a 15-digit numeric variable providing the probability weights for the Well-being module.
Description
AWBWT provides weights suitable for estimates using either only activity-level variables from the Well-being Module or both activity and person-level data from the module. Examples of how to use these weights to generate estimates are available in the Well-being Module codebook.
All ATUS weights are probability weights. Users should take care to specify them properly in their statistical packages.
This variable is available via extracts that are hierarchical or rectangular (activity) (more info on extract formats).
Comparability
Several different estimation weight variables, constructed using slightly different methodologies, exist for the ATUS. Estimation weights should be chosen based on which samples are included in analyses. AWBWT is the appropriate weighting variable for users whose analyses include activity-level Well-being Module data. For most other applications, WT06 is the preferred weighting variable.
AWBWT may be used together with the corresponding set of replicate weights(RAWBWT).
This variable is comparable across years.
