Description

SCHLCOLL_CPS8 reports whether the respondents was enrolled during the previous week in school, high school, or college/university, and, if so, whether they were enrolled full- or part-time. College or high school students who were currently on holiday or seasonal vacation were to answer yes, but those not taking classes during summer vacation were to answer no.

SCHLCOLL_CPS8 was drawn from the final CPS interview, conducted 2-5 months before the ATUS interview. Information on school enrollment was also collected at the time of the ATUS interview. See SCHLCOLL.

Comparability

This variable is comparable over time. However, users should note the change in universe starting in 2013.

Universe

  • 2003-2012: Civilian CPS household members age 16 to 24.
  • 2013+ 2023: Civilian CPS household members age 16 to 49.
