Description

WRKSHIFTRSN reports the main reason why the respondent works a schedule other than a daytime schedule (defined as most work done between 6 a.m and 6 p.m.).

This variable is only available for respondents who reported that they usually work a schedule other than a daytime schedule (see WRKSCHEDUS).

WRKSHIFTRSN was gathered as part of the Leave Module of the ATUS interview. Analyses that include WRKSHIFTRSN should use LVWT as the weight.

Comparability

This variable is comparable across years when available.

Universe

  • Leave Module respondents who work a shift other than a daytime shift (6am-6pm)
